Bio
Scott Janke is currently a Senior Vice President of NovelAire Technologies and has
served in that capacity for the past 23 years. Prior to NovelAire, Mr. Janke has held
various technical and marketing positions with LaRoche Industries and Kaiser
Chemicals- all in the desiccant and adsorbent fields. Mr. Janke holds a BS degree in
Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
NovelAire has been Creating the Great Indoors for more than 25 years by providing
advanced humidity control equipment to hundreds of OEMs and thousands of other
customers throughout the world. NovelAire manufactures energy conservation wheels
and desiccant dehumidification wheels that are supplied to many of the major HVAC
manufacturers throughout North America. These wheel products provide energy efficient
ventilation, lower installed cost of HVAC equipment, and dehumidified air for
residential, commercial, and industrial applications worldwide. In addition, NovelAire
continues to develop and manufacture innovative desiccant based dehumidification
equipment that is used in a variety of applications where low dew points are required.
The spectrum of applications include pharmaceutical plants, hospitals, schools, ice rinks,
manufacturing facilities and supermarkets.
Abstract
Advanced Humidity Control
A new class of desiccants and their ability to regenerate at lower temperatures have
expanded the market reach for desiccant based equipment. By regenerating desiccant
systems with low grade waste heat, low dew points can now be achieved without paying
the energy penalties typically associated with traditional desiccant dehumidifiers.
Several energy efficient air handling configurations are presented utilizing various
combinations of energy recovery and unique desiccant wheels. The presentation also
explores the difference between passive and active regeneration and how to optimize the
use of waste condenser heat for DOAS.
