Steam Basics

This presentation introduces steam systems within HVAC applications. It offers basic theory on steam system principles. A Q&A session will follow to address your questions.

Brad Savage, Technical Sales, Merlo Energy

Brad Savage graduated from Traverse City High School in 1978. He attended Great Lakes Maritime Academy (1978-1981), where he earned a US Coast Guard 3rd Assistant Engineering License for steam vessels of unlimited horsepower. He sailed for Ford Motor Company (1981-1987), upgrading his license to 2nd Assistant Engineer for steam plants of any horsepower.

He was hired at EB Eddy Paper Mill (June 1987) as a High Pressure Boiler Operator, obtaining City of Detroit High Pressure Boiler Operators and 3rd Class Stationary Engineering licenses. He advanced to Maintenance Engineer & Planner role. He later joined Merlo Steam Equipment (January 1993) as an outside salesman managing West Michigan territory.

He served as Past President of the WMAEE (~2000) and has served West Michigan clients for 32+ years in steam systems and engineering.
